ms</a>\nDescription: When we asked youth employed in afterschool and summe
r programs across the state what they needed support with\, they resoundin
gly said they wanted more training on how to handle the situations they ar
e encountering in their program in partnership with adult colleagues. We t
hen created a workshop\, Handling Common Situations\, in partnership with
youth working in afterschool and summer programs around the state. During
this field forum\, we will go over the process of creating this workshop a
nd the lessons we learned about supporting young staff in afterschool and
summer programs. Then we will do a brief overview of the workshop itself t
o help you support the young staff in your program with relationships and
boundaries\, leading and supporting groups\, managing behavior\, and engag
ement with adult partners. There will also be a large chunk of time for qu
estions and discussion. Objectives: Adult staff will understand what young
staff are asking for when it comes to being supported in their summer pro
gram. Adult staff will have a plan for how to support and partner with you
ng staff in handling common situations they may encounter in their summer
 program.
